Three facts about User Safety and Privacy
News April 12, 2024
Grass is the Data Layer of AI, but whose data are we using? Not yours! The network was designed around Web3 principles, and one of those principles is to always respect user trust. So here are three facts about Safety and Privacy that we want everyone to know.
1. Grass deals EXCLUSIVELY with data from the public web.
While plenty of Web 2.0 businesses harvest your data and activity and sell them to the highest bidder, Grass only deals with public content taken from normal websites.
NONE of this data comes from users.
2. Grass can't see anything on your device.
When you install a grass node, it has no interaction with your local hard drive at all. It cannot see any of your files, so there are no concerns about privacy at all.
3. Grass has no idea what you're doing on the internet.
The network can't see your internet activity either. In fact, all it's doing is routing web requests through your internet connection, with no relation to your personal usage.
So there you have it. When you install the application, all it does is view data from popular websites - and not the ones you're visiting. This uses about 0.3% of your internet connection, and you will never notice a difference in connection speed.
We're proud to build a world that is more fair and equitable for all people, and in our opinion, that begins with how we treat our users. So thanks for being with us!
